Inspired by Karl Meltzer and the rugged conditions of the Speedgoat 50k, the Speedgoat is completely redesigned to take on technical trails. Built on a slightly softer EVA midsole, and with 4mm Vibram® rubber lugs, the Speedgoat is built to tackle technical terrain with ease. The upper provides support all the way through the forefoot, and the ground-rubber toecap provides increased protection. When you need a tough shoe to get you through tough trail conditions, look no further than the Speedgoat.

Lightweight Comfort and Superior Protection

For 2016, the Speedgoat receives an updated upper with a focus on lightweight comfort. Rocking an air Mesh upper construction which is lightweight and allows air to fully permeate the shoe, promoting a cooler, drier and altogether more pleasant environment.

Meanwhile Hoka promote the Structural No Sew SpeedFrame Overlays which provide necessary stabilisation around the midfoot from medial to lateral. A seamless interior environment to the Speedgoat reduces irritation and blistering, as well as the number of potential weak points throughout the shoe that would otherwise be prone to tearing or breakage. A softer, lightly padded tongue merged onto the upper provides increased protection and comfort across the foot.

The Speedgoat utilises a full length IMEVA midsole, providing industry leading cushioning for increased impact protection and stability, with unified performance within The Meta-Rocker midsole geometry. Specifically engineered with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole radius, the Speedgoat encourages a unique natural rolling motion for the wearer. This supports natural form and encourages an efficient, continuous positive rolling motion from heel-strike to toe-off.

The outsole of the Speedgoat is integrated with H-Shape dynamic stability technology, promoting a wide midfoot platform for maximum underfoot stability with Full Ground Contact that enables increased traction and a smooth heel to toe transition. Hoka give the outsole to the Speedgoat, Vibram, a household name for trail shoes. Built to be durable, resistant, safe and functional - offering superior traction to the sole the Speedgoat's 4mm Vibram megagrip provides the ultimate in trail running grip.

Rolling Motion

Meta-Rocker midsole geometry, specifically engineered with a low heel-toe differential and a sculpted outsole radius in the heel and toe, encourages a guided foot gait cycle. This supports a runner's natural form and encourages an efficient, continuous, positive rolling motion from heel strike to toe-off.


Engineered midsole volume is up to 2.5 times the volume of performance-specific material compared to standard running shoes. This provides unsurpassed shock attenuation, a sense of weightlessness, and an inherently stable ride which is designed to reduce the fatigue in your legs, feet and core.


Uniquely engineered Active Foot Frame midsole geometry allows the foot to sink into the shoe as opposed to sitting on top of the midsole. The frame is designed to provide integrated stability which is adaptable to a wide range of feet and running styles.

A combination of surface hardness and the earth's gravity makes road or asphalt running very hard on the body. Hoka has provided a range of levels of protection to considerably reduce this stress.
